Dear Reader, welcome to my Septemebr monthly letter. As the seasons change, I wanted to share a few memorable moments from my recent trip to North Carolina. There’s nothing quite like spending time with little ones to remind you that the simple things in life are often the most meaningful. My great-niece, now two, and I spent our days walking through Cary Park, splashing at the playground, picking out pumpkins, and counting kids on their way to school. One of my favorite memories was sitting on the screened-in porch, listening to the rain, with four generations gathered around the dinner table—a true reminder of what matters most.

During my time in North Carolina, I noticed how seamlessly school buses operated in Cary and Clayton, with kids walking to school, even in the rain, and no long drop-off lines clogging the streets. It made me wonder why our local schools no longer have school buses. Meanwhile, the City of Glendale is pushing to eliminate two lanes on major streets like North Brand Blvd and La Crescenta Avenue to add bike lanes, despite strong pushback from the community and local businesses. Given our hilly terrain and these streets’ vital role in traffic flow, especially during freeway incidents, are bike lanes necessary for these locations? In La Cañada, they shrunk lane sizes to add bike lanes without removing any. Why can’t Glendale and La Crescenta adopt a similar approach? If we genuinely want to reduce traffic and improve safety, shouldn’t we also consider bringing back school buses to get more kids out of cars and ease congestion? Read my blog.

Let’s go hyper local for a moment and chat about the La Crescenta-Montrose unincorporated area and the Crescenta Valley Town Council. My Experience on the CVTC. Serving on the Crescenta Valley Town Council for seven years was a transformative experience. During my time, I witnessed firsthand the power of community involvement and built relationships that continue to this day. What I want people to know is that joining the Council is what you make of it—if you’re driven to make a difference, there are ample opportunities. Read more about why you should consider running for CV Twon Council if yo live in the La Crescenta-Montrose unincorporated area.
