Dear Reader, October has been a whirlwind of emotions for me! As many of you know, my mom moved to North Carolina two years ago, which has done wonders for her health. Unfortunately, the first week of October brought a significant scare when she suffered a severe brain seizure. After a week in the ICU, she’s now in short-term rehab, and we’re hoping she’ll be home soon. While the long-term effects are still unclear, having her stable and on the road to recovery feels like a huge victory! Amidst all this, I celebrated a very low-key birthday and was named Top 25, #3 in the Company for Quarter 3! This month has taken me from emotional lows to unexpected highs, sometimes all on the same day. One thing has remained constant: my deep gratitude for all the love and support I’ve received during the challenging and joyful moments.

On a more local note, the Glendale Unified School District (GUSD) is facing significant financial challenges, which recently led to the decision to end the 7th period for middle and high schools. For context, the 7th period has only been in place for four years, initially funded by temporary COVID relief funds, which have now run out. It’s important to note that the only schools keeping their 7th period—Clark Magnet and Roosevelt—have separate long-term budget commitments. Additionally, GUSD underwent a Financial Crisis and Management Assistance Team (FCMAT) assessment, which revealed some concerning financial issues. As a result, the board is considering forming a budget oversight committee, which will include community members. To dive deeper into this topic and learn more about the FCMAT report, check out my latest blog post.

The last month has kept me busy on the real estate front. Here are two fantastic new listings that just hit the market. Both La Crescenta homes are available to tour with a simple call.

3840 2nd Avenue: 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, incredible upgrades, beautiful views – $1,300,000

3026 Markridge Road: 5 Beds., 4 baths, pool, stunning views, over 2,900 square feet – $2,175,000

As we head into the holiday season, it’s all about planning—whether for holiday festivities or taking advantage of the opportunities still available in 2024.  Are you looking ahead to 2025? Let’s start strategizing for the first quarter—you might be surprised by what we can achieve! Until November, don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything. One last thing: if you have not been to Carved at Descanso Gardens, I highly recommend you go, day or night. I appreciate your time and look forward to staying connected.

Warm Regards,
Robbyn Battles
