Happy November, and welcome to what I consider the official start of the holiday season. This month I put together a list of local events and programs. If you are in town or have guests coming for a visit, there should be something everyone can enjoy. Naturally, a few healthy workout options made my list. Consider a Turkey Trot. Run, walk, and bring the kids. A perfect workout just before you sit down to all those holiday goodies. Pasadena has a beautiful home tour in December, and all the local tree lightings and parades are also on the list. Events from Arcadia, Altadena, Pasadena, Glendale Montrose, La Crescenta, and the LA areas. All the event links are below.
What are your plans for Thanksgiving? Do you have a favorite dish that is a tradition? The dish my family always expects from me is mashed potatoes. I call it a heart attack in a bowl. Why? Here’s the recipe. 8 pounds of Yukon gold potatoes, 1 container of sour cream, two sticks of butter, one package of cream cheese, a dash of warm milk, and lots of salt and pepper. Give it a try. Just don’t let them get runny.
Word on the street is MOO MOO MIA ice cream in Montrose is fantastic. There is an excellent article featured in Voyage LA Magazine about owners’. Mia & Mark, brother and sister, immigrated in 2009 from Denmark to follow their American dream, to live in sunny California, featured in Voyage LA Magazine.
