My Experience on the CVTC. Serving on the Crescenta Valley Town Council for seven years was a transformative experience. During my time, I witnessed firsthand the power of community involvement and built relationships that continue to this day. What I want people to know is that joining the Council is what you make of it—if you’re driven to make a difference, there are ample opportunities.

I had the privilege of working on impactful projects, some of which continue to benefit the community today. These include:

  • Installing the flashing crosswalk at Glenwood and Foothill: This is a much-needed improvement for pedestrian safety. I spent months and months in meetings standing in the hot sun with Public Works, CHP, and the Supervisor’s office staff.
  • Securing a crossing guard for Rosemont Middle School: Ensuring the safety of students crossing busy intersections. Did you know this community was responsible for getting the first-ever crossing guard for a Middle School in the County of LA?
  • Establishing Crescenta Commons: This pocket park at Orange and Rosemont is a beautiful space that still serves as a community gathering spot, and I still help manage it.
  • Starting the La Crescenta Christmas Tree Lighting tradition: As of 2024, the CVTC will proudly manage this beloved event.
  • Secured the first round of funding for the Medians: They have filled in beautifully, and after years of the Council requesting funding, it finally happened. Once again, this is a massive community project, with many dedicated volunteers pushing it to fruition.

Beyond the projects, the experience of meeting community members and working with local authorities like the Sheriff, County Fire, GUSD, CV Water District, and Public Works, to name a few, was remarkable. The relationships I built with my colleagues and fellow residents truly enhanced my experience on the Council. The knowledge I gained about the inner workings of our community was absolutely priceless.

Is it your turn to run for Crescenta Valley Town Council?

What is Crescenta Valley Town Council
The Crescenta Valley Town Council (CVTC) serves as an essential liaison between the residents of the unincorporated areas of La Crescenta and Montrose and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. The Council doesn’t have the authority to create laws or ordinances, but it plays a critical role in representing the community’s voices. As a liaison, CVTC ensures that residents’ concerns, issues, and needs are effectively communicated to La County 5th District Supervisor Kathryn Barger.

Encouraging You to Get Involved

If you care about your community and want to see changes that benefit everyone, I highly recommend running for the CVTC. It’s not just about attending meetings but building a more robust, safer, and more connected community. My years on the Council taught me that you truly get out what you put into it. Whether you’re passionate about improving traffic safety, preserving local traditions, or creating new initiatives, CVTC offers a platform to make a lasting impact.

Applications are currently available for the upcoming election. If you live in the unincorporated areas of La Crescenta and Montrose, now is your chance to make a difference. I encourage anyone with the time and passion for community involvement to run for a seat on the Council.
